When & How can I change my password?
Users can manually
change passwords at anytime from their own systems. Changing passwords
varies from one operating system to another and listed below are the
directions for each operating system being supported by U.T. System.
To determine which operating system you are running, right click on
the my computer icon on your desktop and left click on the properties
option. The main property screen will show that you have Windows
2000, 98, 95 or XP.
Windows
2000
When logged into the
system,
Press the ctrl+alt+del buttons to pull up the windows security
box.
Select the change password option
Enter your old password
Enter
your new password
Confirm your new password
Select OK
You will be notified your password has changed.
Windows
95 & 98
Click on the start
button
Choose settings
Choose control panel
Double click the
passwords panel and the password properties box opens
Click the
change other passwords button
Select Microsoft networking
Click the
change button
Enter your old password
Enter
your new password
Confirm your new password
Click the OK button
You will
be notified your password has been changed. The next time
you log onto that machine you may be asked to update your windows password
-- enter your new password when asked and the change will be made. We have seen some problems with Windows 98 & 95 systems
changing passwords. If you encounter difficulties, please contact
