On April 14, 2014 members of the ODOP staff were honored at the 2013 UT Sytstem Employee Service Awards. David Ferrero and Michael Heidingsfield were recognized for five years of service while Charlie Patnode was recognized for twenty years of service. Congratulations!

In a fitting conclusion to the Memorial Day week and thanks to the efforts of AD Puente, Inspector Harper and Erica Wagner, we have dedicated the ODOP EOC to the memory of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle--As a personal note that is both ironic and tragic, I was scheduled to shoot with Mr. Kyle in a law enforcement firearms event sponsored by DFW law enforcement the day following Mr. Kyle's terribly unfortunate death--In our own way we will work to keep his spirit alive here at ODOP

March 5, 2012 was a busy day around ODOP, first with the commissioning of new Assistant Director Ruben Puente, (pictures available in the Academy Gallery)followed by the recognizition of Lydia Navarro's 30 years of service to The University of Texas System Police. Lydia started with the UT Austin Police in 1981 and came to work for ODOP in January of 2001. Congratulations to both Ruben and Lydia!
