Section VI

PARKING PERMITS

 

A. EMPLOYEES: A parking permit will be issued upon application and payment of the parking fee to the Account Services Office of Business and Administrative Services. An application returned with the payroll deduction authorization portion signed by the employee will be considered as payment.

 

B. DISPLAY OF PERMITS: Hang permits where they are clearly visible from the interior rearview mirror. Failure to follow instructions concerning displaying the permit will result in citations being issued.

 

C. SURRENDERING OF PERMITS: Permits shall be surrendered:

 

1. when association with U.T. System Administration is terminated;

2. when a replacement permit has been issued to take the place of a previously issued permit; or

3. upon expiration or revocation of the permit.

 

D. CLASSES OF PERMITS AND ANNUAL FEES:

 

Class 0 - Chancellor, Executive Officers and Executive Secretary to the Board,

 

Area I - Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall Parking Garage

Area II - Ashbel Smith Hall Parking Garage

Area III - Ashbel Smith Hall West Parking Garage (7th Street Entrance)

Area IV - Ashbel Smith Hall West Parking Garage (Lavaca Street Entrance)

Area V - off premises parking

Visitor Issued by U.T. Austin Guard Force

 

FEE FOR CLASS 0 RESERVED SPACES: $240.00

 

FEE FOR AREAS I, II, III AND IV:

$150.00 employees with an annual salary of $50,000 and above

$96.00 employees with an annual salary less than $50,000

 

Note: Fees for unreserved parking spaces may be paid using monthly payroll deduction.

 

All disabled veterans whose vehicles display the specially designed license plates issued by the Texas Department of Transportation with the words "DISABLED VET" printed thereon in accordance with the provisions of Article 6675a-5e, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated are exempt from parking permit fees, parking garage fees and parking meter fees and time limits.

 

All permanently disabled persons whose vehicles properly display the specially designed symbols, tags, placards, cards or other devices issued by the Texas Department of Transportation with the word "DISABLED" printed thereon in accordance with the provisions of Article 6675a-5e.1, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated are exempt from parking permit fees, parking garage fees and parking meter fees and time limits.

 

These exemptions permit parking only in spaces where parking would otherwise be appropriate and do not permit the parking of a vehicle at a place where parking is restricted or prohibited.

 

E. PAYMENT OF FEES: When an application is made for a permit, the fee charged will be for a complete year or will be prorated for the remainder of the permit year. Payment of the fee, or execution of a payroll deduction authorization, must be made before the permit will be issued.

 

F. REPLACEMENT CHARGES: There will be a $5.00 charge any time a replacement permit is issued.

 

G. REFUNDS: A request for refund will not be honored unless the permit has been surrendered and the request is filed with the Account Services Office of Business and Administrative Services during the University's fiscal year in which payment for the permit was made. Refunds will be made to employees upon request and only in the event service is terminated by a resignation or leave of absence without pay. The refund will be based on the number of full months remaining in the University's permit year. A request for a refund will not be honored when a person's privilege to park has been suspended nor if outstanding charges or other debts remain unpaid.
