Regents Meet in San Antonio Feb. 8-9

The University of Texas System Board of Regents discussed and took action on several agenda items related to the UT System’s education, research, patient care and service mission. Highlights of the meeting include:

  • Randa Safady's report [1] on record-breaking gift giving [2] in 2011
  • Authorization of an additional $10 million [2] to help our emerging research institutions leverage additional funds in their quest to become tier-one institutions
  • Adoption of new policies as they relate to post-tenure review [3]
  • Approval of an expanded policy on criminal background checks [4] for personnel in the UT System
  • Establishment of the Regents' Outstanding Student Awards in Arts and Humanities [5] and a brief performance by students from the UTSA Choir
