The presentation provides an overview of a specific data mining technique that is currently used to guide the Science and Technology enterprise at Sandia Labs and can be used to determine clusters of researchers within various fields of science.
Science and Engineering Indicators 2006 - A report published by the National Science Foundation, the Science and Engineering Indicators (SEI) is first and foremost a volume of record comprising the major high quality quantitative data on the U.S. and international science and engineering enterprise. The indicators reported in SEI are intended to contribute to an understanding of the current environment and inform the development of future policies. The data can be examined in various ways, and SEI generally emphasizes neutral, factual description and avoids unconventional or controversial analysis.
AAAS Report XXXI: Research and Development FY 2007 - An analysis that serves as a preview of the forthcoming AAAS Report XXXI: Research and Development FY 2007, a comprehensive look at the President's budget for R&D in FY 2007. Workshop Report: Support of Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Researchers in the Sciences and Engineering: Impact of Related Policies & Practices - sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS). The goal of this workshop was to consider the role and impact that student financial support plays in encouraging U.S. citizens to pursue and complete doctoral and postdoctoral studies in STEM fields. The June 2004 workshop report is co-written by Co-Chairs Robert E. Barnhill and Dan Stanzione. Dr. Barnhill was the NSF/CGS Dean in Residence and Dr. Stanzione was the American Association for Advancement of Science Fellow.
