My interactions with patients and families drive me to make sure our medical students are learning not only the basics in science but also the basics in becoming empathetic, caring and competent physicians.

Persistence, patience and passion are attributes that have served me well in my role as a teacher. Moreover, being empathetic to the needs of students and being responsive to the changing environment that students learn best in have also been critical.
