Institutional Committee Participation: UT CIOs (or their appropriate designee) should be members of certain key institutional committees such as: Audit, Compliance, and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery. This participation ensures that central IT concerns, responsibilities and capabilities are practical and well represented.
Encrypted Email During Transmission: Centrally managed, controlled, or outsourced email services of UT institutions will (attempt to) use TLS protocol when transmitting or receiving email. TLS is the Transport Layer Security protocal as defined by version 1.2 RFC 5246 and related RFC's. This usage will encrypt the email during transmission across the internet with other email servers supporting TLS. UT institutions not currently doing this will phase in this usage at upcoming normal upgrade times. The SLC will check in Spring 2009 on status.
