Join your fellow UT System employees at PurpleStride in support of pancreatic cancer!

PurpleStride Austin is a family-friendly event that unites the community while raising awareness and support for the fight against pancreatic cancer.  Pancreatic cancer has just a 6% survival rate after five years, with 74% of its patients passing away within the first year or six months of diagnosis.  This is due largely because there are no detection tools to diagnosis the disease in its early stages when surgical removal of the tumor is still possible.

On Saturday, September 14, there will be a timed 5k run and family-friendly run/walk that will take participants on a journey that is filled with hope and inspiration along Lady Bird Lake by way of the Drake Bridge.  There will be children’s activities, entertainment, and refreshments provided.  Please consider joining or supporting an established team that includes some of your co-workers, such as All for Juan and Juan for All; or supporting one of our former colleagues, Janet Cole; or creating a new team or entering on your own; or volunteering to help at the event.   If you would like information on how to participate, please contact Elaine Moore, emoore@utsystem.edu, 512-499-4204.
