Gene Powell, chairman of The University of Texas System Board of Regents, offers remarks on priorities for the UT System at the Board's February 2011 meeting. Emphasizing that students remain the top priority for the UT System and its 15 institutions, Chairman Powell called for the UT System to enhance educational quality, increase undergraduate enrollment and the number of undergraduate UT degrees conferred, and work to reduce the cost of a baccalaureate degree. Stating that the UT System is a leader in higher education, he charged his fellow Board members and the leadership across UT institutions to move toward the future by continually striving for continuous improvement, being more efficient and productive, and serving more students.
