Statement from Interim Chancellor Shine:

"We are deeply grateful to Professor John Stobo for his years of dedicated service to The University of Texas System, first as president of UT Medical Branch at Galveston and most recently for his leadership of The University of Texas System's Innovations in Health Sciences Education program. The first grants in this program have been awarded and considerable progress has been made in establishing a web space for curriculum which can be shared among the campuses. We thank Jack and wish him the greatest success in his new role as senior vice president for health sciences and services at The University of California system.

"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Steven Lieberman as the new program director of our health science education initiatives. Dr. Lieberman is vice dean for academic affairs, Dr. and Mrs. A. H. Potthast Professor in Teaching Excellence and professor of Internal Medicine at UTMB. Steve is an outstanding teacher and is president-elect of the UT System Academy of Health Science Educators. He has already played an important role in the innovations program and under his leadership we look forward to further strengthening our educational enterprise. We are very fortunate Steve has agreed to take on these additional responsibilities."
