National Retirement Security Week On the road to retirement, many of us will experience detours—something that causes us to stop or reduce how much we’re saving for the future. That’s why Congress declared October 15-21 National Retirement Security Week—to remind people like you to pull off on the side of the road of your life and take a moment to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go. This awareness week is sponsored by the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA), which offers a series of tips to help you along on your retirement savings journey.

Competing financial priorities can make it hard to focus on long-term financial goals like saving for retirement. Younger employees may face student loans or major purchases like homes and cars, or daycare. Older employees may face expenses for home repair or upkeep, vacations and travel, college for your kids or increasing health care expenses. On top of all those expenses, there is also the need to maintain an emergency fund to get you through the many speedbumps that life can send your way or deal with those detours that can affect us all.

When it comes to saving through your UTSaver retirement plans to ensure that future is what you want, however, you’re in the driver’s seat. Wherever you’re headed, getting there starts here.
