2012 Higher Education Risk Management Conference - Speakers Biography

Paul Sarahan
Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P

Paul Sarahan focuses on environmental consulting and advising clients on business transactions, enforcement, auditing, environmental litigation, permitting, nanotechnology and workplace safety issues. In addition, Paul has the experience to advise on legislative activities.  

Prior to joining Fulbright, Paul was the Director of the Litigation Division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ("TCEQ”), where he litigated complex environmental cases involving enforcement and permitting issues. He advised TCEQ's Environmental Audit program. While at the TCEQ, he was rated one of the top in-house counsel by the Texas Lawyer.  

Since joining Fulbright, Paul has assisted several clients in developing and implementing environmental audit programs, and has advised clients on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, addressing material data safety sheets, hazard communication, process safety management, process hazard analysis, and facility siting issues. He is the author of “Nanotechnology Safety: A Framework for Identifying and Complying with Workplace Safety Requirements," Nanotechnology Law & Business, Issue 5.2, July 2008; and co-author of “University Nano Labs: Assessing and Minimizing Environmental, Health, and Safety Risks,” Journal of College and University Law, Vol. 37, No. 3, June 2011 . He graduated with Honors from the University of Texas School of Law and earned an LL.M. in Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law from the University of Houston Law Center.
