Luther Johnson
Senior Human Resource Advisor
The University of Texas at Austin

Luther Johnson has worked in Human Resources at The University of Texas at Austin for 15 years. Luther handles all compliance activities, issues relating to conflict of interest, legal research, and serves as legal liaison for HR. At UT Austin, he served as Director of Employee Relations and Assistant Director for Compliance and Campus Relations, HR Division Administrator, EEO Trainer and Hearing Officer. His professional career spans over 30 years in Human Resources with several Texas state agencies including the Texas Department of Human Services, Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Commission on Human Rights and the City of Austin.  

Luther’s job responsibilities include representing UT Austin in unemployment claims cases before the Texas Workforce Commission. Luther’s average claims win rate of 90% at the initial level and 84% at the hearing level consistently ranks near the top of all University of Texas institutions. 

Luther Johnson earned his B.S. in Political Science and History from East Texas State University (currently Texas A&M at Commerce) and Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, at Texas Southern University. Luther also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College teaching Business Law.
