New Building

New Building to House System Administration

Body

Our OneUTSystem site provides information and updates on the new UT System Administration office building now under construction. Operations from five antiquated buildings will be consolidated into the new 19-story, 330,000 SF building, resulting in reduced maintenance and operating expenses and greater efficiencies.

Take a virtual “hard hat tour” of the new building with Project Manager Bart Kleiman through a series of videos, each focused on a different area or feature. The videos, shot by Senior Video Production Coordinator Charlie Palafox (Office of External Relations), will be updated regularly throughout the construction process to provide a glimpse of what it will be like working and visiting there.

The new UT System building is SO close to completion! The number of tests and inspections are keeping the entire team extremely busy. All of these tests and inspections will ensure that a well-built, safe, and secure building is handed over on July 12th when the keys will be symbolically transferred to Facilities Management for building operation. What an exciting time at UT System! Here are a few more photos.

Flag poles/UFCU Space
Flag poles are on the left. UFCU space is on the first floor on the left. Multi-Function Room is on the 2nd floor above UFCU. UT System seal and Institution names are underneath the entry canopy. Main entry doors are in the bottom center of photo. 2nd story lobby and entry stairs are to the right.
Institutional signage
Signage contractor is installing the Institution names on the basalt wall at the building entry.
Lite stairs
One of the life safety code requirements implemented in the building is the installation of photo-luminescent markings in the exit stairs. These markings are installed to maintain a sense of direction in the case of loss of power and loss of generator power.
Unlit stairs
Stairs without lighting. Although it is interesting, the hope is that this condition is never seen because it would indicate a double power failure.
