Dear Friend of the UT System,
I want you to know how delighted I am to have been selected as Chancellor of The University of Texas System. I embark upon my new responsibility in the UT System with a deep sense of pride that I am certain you can understand. For me, this is a great honor and a wonderful opportunity to improve the lives of all Texans and make a difference in our nation and world.
Taking my place among the leaders charged with keeping the best of a storied tradition, while moving the UT System to higher levels of excellence, is a challenge that I welcome. I understand this challenge is not mine alone. It requires the work of the many talented members of the System Administration family and our extended family on each of the UT campuses. And, it requires the support and encouragement of individuals like you who care deeply about the UT System. We are poised to be the best institution of higher education in the United States of America.
I believe that we all share a vision for the UT System — one that lifts us to the very highest levels of national and international acclaim for the quality of our work in education, healthcare, research and service. I have had the privilege of working with all the presidents of UT’s 15 institutions and I know they all share a strong commitment to that vision. I am so proud of our faculty, staff and students.
Graciela and I are thrilled to begin this wonderful new adventure and we want you to be part of this exciting journey.
