The University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., delivered the keynote address at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities Annual Meeting on November 14, 2010. The event is the largest meeting of public research university leaders in the nation. He outlined the critical and historic importance of U.S. research universities, responsible for countless practical and transformational solutions, and the challenges to their continued global preeminence. He also provided strong recommendations to ensure U.S. universities continue to lead the world in discovery and innovation.
