Using strategic communication and interaction, The Office of External Relations strives to connect the UT System with the public. The office consists of four areas of expertise that assist and collaborate with each of the 15 UT institutions and UT System administrative offices to provide the public with an array of resources.
Development and Gift Planning Services supports the fundraising efforts of the UT institutions and encourages private support for the Chancellor’s initiatives by providing experienced counsel and centralized functions as they relate to gifts, endowment management, compliance and stewardship, naming opportunities, and estate and trust administration.
In a continuous effort to keep our UT System constituents and communities informed, educated and engaged, Public Affairs serves as a liaison between the UT System and the news media and general public. Public Affairs provides news and public information services on behalf of the Board of Regents and executive offices, manages web and broadcast communications to build our brand, and generates executive communication for the Chancellor, members of the Board of Regents and various UT System officials.
Working with professionals, volunteers and donors within the UT System, the Center for Enhancing Philanthropy aims to improve overall performance, attract and retain quality advancement professionals within the UT System, give back to the development profession and expand the role of philanthropy. Each year, the office provides each institution with an individual fundraising assessment, identifying areas of strength and those needing improvement to increase philanthropic support.
Being a good neighbor and a valued member of the state and local communities is a priority at UT System. Community and Business Relations is committed to building relationships with constituent groups, promoting the values and contributions that higher education and the UT System provide to its communities, working with the business community, and planning and implementing official events on behalf of the Board of Regents, the Chancellor and UT System officials.
