UT System Regents to Meet in Austin on April 12

AUSTIN – The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System will hold a special called meeting on Thursday, April 12, in Austin. The meeting will be held on the ninth floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th Street.

Parking for credentialed news media will be available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 7th and 6th Streets.

Out-of-town reporters and the general public may view the open sessions of the meeting via a live webcast.

The agenda book for the meeting is available online.  Reporters are encouraged to print the agenda book as hard copies will no longer be made available at Board meetings.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.; agenda items include:

  • UT Southwestern Medical Center: Proposed honorific naming of the new University Hospital as the William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital
  • UT System Board of Regents: Amendments to the Regents' Rules and Regulations, Rule 10403 (Meeting Procedure), Section 8.1 (Docket) to replace the Docket with a Consent Agenda format

The meeting will recess to executive session at approximately 9:40 a.m. to discuss legal and personnel matters and negotiated gifts; agenda items include:

  • UT Health Science Center - Tyler: Discussion and appropriate action regarding individual personnel matters relating to proposed compensation for President Kirk A. Calhoun
  • UT Austin: Discussion and appropriate action related to legal issues concerning review of interactions and relationship between UT Austin and the Law School Foundation
  • UT Southwestern Medical Center: Discussion and appropriate action related to legal issues concerning review of matters related to C. Kern Wildenthal, M.D., Ph.D., and the Southwestern Medical Foundation
  • UT Southwestern Medical Center: Discussion and appropriate action related to legal issues concerning contractual relationships with Dallas County Hospital District, Parkland Health & Hospital System, and Dallas County Indigent Care Corporation
  • UT System: Discussion with Counsel regarding pending legal issues in Fisher v. State of Texas, University of Texas at Austin, et al.
  • UT Austin: Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed negotiated gifts with potential naming features
  • UT Medical Branch – Galveston: Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed negotiated gifts with potential naming features
  • UT Health Science Center - Houston: Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed negotiated gifts with potential naming features
  • UT Health Science Center - San Antonio: Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed negotiated gifts with potential naming features
  • UT MD Anderson Cancer Center: Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed negotiated gifts with potential naming features

 Any action will be taken in open session.  The meeting will adjourn at approximately 12:30 p.m.
