UT System Regents to meet Feb. 11-12

AUSTIN – The University of Texas System Board of Regents will meet Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 11-12, in Austin. The meeting will be held on the ninth floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th St.

The agenda book and links to the live webcast for the meeting are available online. Parking for news media is available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 6th and 7th streets.

Wednesday, Feb. 11

9 a.m. – Audit, Compliance and Management Review Committee

  • Report on the Systemwide internal audit activities

9:45 a.m. – Joint Audit and Finance Committees

  • Discussion related to FY 2014 Annual Financial Report

10:15 a.m. – Finance and Planning Committee

  • Discussion and appropriate action on the allocation of $30.2 million of Intermediate Term Fund proceeds for Systemwide projects, including Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Awards and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Plan – Education and Health Initiatives
  • Report on the activities of the University Lands Advisory Board
  • Discussion and appropriate action on the authorization of $6,337,000 of Permanent University Funds for network and infrastructure upgrades to the Lonestar Supercomputing System, Shared Intrusion and Anomaly Detection services, the UT System network and UT Austin Dell Medical School firewall

11 a.m. – Technology Transfer and Planning Committee

  • Report and discussion on the Institute for Transformational Learning’s (ITL) program development and technology initiatives
  • Discussion and appropriate action regarding report and recommendations from the Task Force on Intellectual Property Issues

12:30 p.m. – Academic Affairs Committee

  • Report on new strategic plan and vision statement for UT Arlington
  • Discussion and appropriate action related to the creation of the School of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication at UT Dallas
  • Discussion and appropriate action on the establishment of the UT Rio Grande Valley Development Board
  • Follow-up reports on activities to support and encourage returning veterans

1:30 p.m. – Health Affairs Committee

  • Discussion related to the approval of $5 million from the Available University Fund (AUF) to support UT System initiatives led by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Population Health to improve the health of Texans
  • Report of the activities and accomplishments of the Galveston National Laboratory and preparedness for infectious diseases
  • Report on the Diabetes Obesity Control Initiative

2:30 p.m.  – Facilities Planning and Construction Committee

  • Discussion and appropriate action related to design development approval for the UT Dallas Brain Performance Institute project

Thursday, November 6

8:30 a.m. – Meeting of the Board in open session

  • Welcome to Chancellor McRaven and Chancellor’s remarks
  • Approval of $2.4 million in Available University Funds (AUF) for the expansion of Collegiate Education, Intervention, and Recovery Programs at each UT System academic institution
  • Report on record record-breaking development performance for UT System institutions
