UT System Regents’ Chairman Eltife and Chancellor Zerwas name new executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer
AUSTIN, Texas — Today University of Texas Board of Regents Chairman Kevin P. Eltife and UT System Chancellor John M. Zerwas, M.D., named Terry Hull as the new executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer of The University of Texas System. Hull will succeed Jonathan Pruitt, who will leave the UT System next month to become the chief executive officer of the North Carolina Research Triangle Foundation. Hull has served the UT System for more than 25 years across a variety of critical roles including oversight of long-range capital and operating financial plans and leadership of finance and budget professionals.
“One of the strengths of the UT System is the breadth, scope and deep bench strength of extraordinary talent, so elevating Terry Hull to the EVC position was an easy decision. He has long been an excellent advisor to the regents and chancellor on all financial and budget matters, and we’ve been very pleased with his excellent stewardship of our resources,” said Eltife.
Hull currently serves as chief financial officer, providing executive oversight to critical UT System administrative divisions including budget and planning, controller, employee group insurance, finance, strategic sourcing and treasury. He serves as the primary UT System liaison to UTIMCO, as a strategic liaison to the Chancellor and the Regents on debt-related matters, and has been key to maintaining the System's Aaa/AAA/AAA credit ratings.
Hull has also served as interim executive vice chancellor for business affairs, overseeing a broad portfolio that included finance, budget, capital projects, information technology, employee benefits, real estate and University Lands.

The ideas he proposes and initiatives he leads are always focused on supporting our institutions in ways that ensure maximizing effectiveness and eliminating inefficiencies,” said Zerwas. “I look forward to welcoming him as a new member of my executive officer team,” he added.
In addition to his roles at the UT System, Hull previously held a leadership post at the Lower Colorado River Authority and served as a financial analyst for the Texas Bond Review Board. He earned a bachelor of science in aerospace engineering and a master of business administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
