LAREDO, Texas — University of Texas System Chancellor John Zerwas, M.D., joined state and local leaders today to break ground on a $60 million expansion of The University of Texas Education and Research Center at Laredo. The new three-story, 56,000-square-foot multidisciplinary building will add classrooms, teaching labs and research space to keep pace with the center’s rapid growth. The UT System Board of Regents approved the project in 2025.

The University of Texas (UT) System Board of Regents will hold its regularly scheduled quarterly board meeting on Wednesday, August 12, beginning at 1 p.m. and Thursday, August 13, beginning at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held on the second floor of the UT System Building at 210 West 7th Street in Austin.
