What are your primary job responsibilities?

My primary responsibilities reside within the areas of recruitment, hiring, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, time and attendance, a dash of payroll and wellness. This includes providing guidance on and improving our policies, procedures and system operations. It involves coordination and collaboration with other departments (shoutout to our wonderful Payroll team!), vendors and UT Institutions. Among the many hats I wear, one of my favorites is being the point of contact for our new hires and being part of the UTSI task force. So, if you have any questions relating to the employment process, job postings and advertising, onboarding, our Percipio learning base, time reporting or eForms, I am your gal!

What do you most enjoy about your job?

It is a pleasure to work alongside such a talented and passionate team. Each day brings something new and, with it, the need for revised problem-solving methods while maintaining a service-oriented mindset. Not one day is the same and it keeps us on our toes!

What is a book or movie that has inspired you – and why?

The most recent book that truly inspired me was “Une Femme Au Front (A Woman at the Front),” the autobiography of Martine Laroche-Joubert, a war reporter who covered the Gulf wars, the Arab Spring, the former Yugoslavia, the siege of Sarajevo and many other areas of conflict. It is a captivating read, if at times quite heartbreaking; incredibly human and vulnerable. The author shares her wanderlust, and the passion she has for her work, despite the inherent dangers of her profession and how it impacted her and her family.

What do you do to disconnect or de-stress?

Puzzles and reading have always been my go-to, as well as baking, board games and, more recently, some kickboxing. I also love going thrifting with my friends, discovering local markets and tiny bookstores, as well visiting new cities in which getting lost is rewarded with incredible finds!

Who is currently playing on your Spotify playlist?

At all times, I have a rotation of Florence and the Machine, Hozier, and Pomme featured on my playlists. Lately, this also included some Hungarian alternative rock bands like Elefánt or Platon Karataev. I also recently discovered EPIC: The Musical, a loose musical adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, which has been a true joy to listen to on my morning commutes.
