TRSHealthy Vision Month, a national eye health observance established by the National Eye Institute (NEI) in 2003, promotes the importance of early detection and treatment of eye diseases through annual comprehensive eye exams.

Some vision disorders disproportionately affect certain populations. You could be at greater risk if you have a family history of eye disease like glaucoma or early-onset age-related macular degeneration, have diabetes, or are older than 50.

Please visit the NEI website for more information about Healthy Vision Month, where they provide web pages dedicated to Healthy Eyes and tool kits.

Now is the time to start thinking about making an appointment before the end of the plan year.  You will have until August 31, 2017 to use your current Superior Vision benefits toward a routine eye exam, contact lens fitting, glasses and/or contact lenses.  You can visit the Superior Vision web page for information on how your benefits work, or you can speak with a Superior Vision customer service agent by calling (800) 507-3800.

UT FLEX Healthcare Reimbursement Account (HCRA) participants can use their HCRA funds toward vision related services such as copays or costs in full.  Please always remember to save your itemized receipts in the event that Maestro Health, the UT FLEX administrator, asks you for documentation.  For more information on how to use your HCRA funds, please contact Maestro Health customer service at (844) UTS-FLEX (887-3539), or go to the Maestro Health website.
