Brian Dean, MBA, MPH, is Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs at The University of Texas System. He brings more than 25 years of experience leading health systems across the country, with expertise in clinical administration, financial management, and innovative business models for academic health institutions. Dean joined the UT System in 2024, and serves concurrently as Executive Vice President for Health Affairs at UTHealth Houston and Interim Executive Vice President for Health Affairs at UT Rio Grande Valley. He has also served as a Strategic Advisor to the UT System Office of Health Affairs. Earlier in his career, Dean spent seven years at Memorial Hermann Health System, where he served as CEO of the Texas Medical Center campus, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Service Lines, and Chief Financial Officer. He also held executive leadership positions at Sutter Health in California, Jackson Health System in Florida, and the University of Kentucky's Chandler Hospital. Dean serves on the board of Houston Hospice and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He earned both a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Health Science in Health Administration from the University of Kentucky, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami.
