Dr. Margarita Vasquez is aTenuredProfessor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatologyat theUniversity of Texas Health San Antonio.Shereceived her medical degree fromtheUniversity of Missouriat Kansas City, andcompleted her pediatric residencyand neonatal fellowship training at University ofTexas Health San Antonio. Dr. Vasquezhas been the Neonatal-Perinatal MedicineFellowshipProgramDirector since 2009and has a passion for medical educationand simulation training.She has mentorednumerous fellows and residents throughout their training and strives to support professional andeducational development for the next generation of neonatologists and neonatal educational leaders.At her local institution, she is a member of the Academy of Educational Scholars, director of fellowsimulation, and leads curricular development for the pediatric residency and neonatology fellowshipprograms.She hasmade significant contributions at the institutional, regional, and national levelsin mentorship, simulation,delivery room resuscitation, and national curriculum development.Dr.Vasquez has been an active member of the Organization of Neonatal Training Program Directors(ONTPD) NationalNeonatologyCurriculum Committee,participated in the Accreditation Council forGraduate Medical Education (ACGME) Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Milestones 2.0 working group, aswell as the committee to map milestones to the American Board of Pediatrics Entrustable ProfessionalActivities. She currentlyserves on theexecutive council of the ONTPDandisa member of the ACGMEPediatrics Review Committee.
