JEREMIAH SHELBY CLARKE, San Antonio, Texas, was appointed as Student Regent to the U.T. System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott for a one-year term beginning June 1, 2026.

Student Regent Clarke is in his third-year studying International Relations and Global Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. He is a recipient of the Larry Temple Scholarship, a scholar in the 2026 cohort of the Frank Denius Normandy Scholars Program, and a student in the Plan II Honors Program.

Previously, Mr. Clarke worked as a Junior Policy Analyst for Texas State Senator Donna Campbell during the 89th Legislative Session. He also served as Deputy Committee Clerk to the Texas Senate Committee on Nominations. On campus, Mr. Clarke served in the U.T. Student Government as a University-Wide Representative and Chair of the Ethics and Oversight Committee. In these positions, he co-authored legislation that established a First-Year Fellowship Program and initiated the implementation of a campus-wide digital student ID system. Mr. Clarke also sat on the University Endowments Governing Board, overseeing the allocation of over $40,000 in student scholarships.

As the son of a retired U.S. Air Force service member, Mr. Clarke grew up in seven different states throughout his life. He has resided in San Antonio, Texas, for the past seven years, where he graduated from Ronald Reagan High School. Mr. Clarke enjoys hiking, reading, and playing soccer. Outside of his studies, he volunteers as a Gallery Attendant for the Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio. Following graduation, he plans to attend law school.
