All losses shall be promptly reported to your respective Institution's Office of Risk Management and The University of Texas System (the UT System) Office of Risk Management (ORM).
All incidents involving theft or vandalism should be reported to the Campus Police and local Police Department.
Take reasonable emergency measures to mitigate any further damages.
Complete the Potential Claim Incident Report Form. Once notified of a loss, the UT System ORM will submit the claim on behalf of the Institution to the insurance carrier.
Valuation
The value of Covered Property owned by The University of Texas System will be the least of the following:
- Cost to replace with comparable property used for the same purpose;
- Cost to restore property to its condition prior to the loss or damage; or
- Cost to replace with identical property.
The value of Covered Property for which you are legally liable as of the time of loss or damage will be the amount of your legal liability, not to exceed the replacement cost.
Settlement of Claims
The insurance carrier will investigate, evaluate and offer settlements, less any applicable deductibles, on reported losses. ORM will review settlement offers with the impacted Institutions(s), and if the offer is accepted, forward payment as appropriate
Equipment Policy
The University of Texas System Equipment Policy provides coverage for direct physical loss or damage to scheduled miscellaneous articles such as:
- Audio/visual equipment
- Computer equipment
- Geological equipment
- Medical equipment
- Scientific equipment
The policy insures against risks of direct physical loss or damage to scheduled property, except as excluded within the policy. The policy provides worldwide coverage including transit up to a maximum of $3 million per item.
