HIPAA Training for Vendors, Contractors, and Other Third Parties

HIPAA training is required for any contractor, individual, entity, or organization engaged in providing services to a Covered or Hybrid Entity in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”). 

The University of Texas System Administration (UTS) is classified as a Hybrid Entity under HIPAA and as such requires all business associates to successfully complete an acceptable HIPAA training before engaging in any services for UTS which involve access to UTS PHI. The training provided below is an accepted HIPAA training for UTS business associates. A business associate is defined as a person or entity that performs certain functions or activities that involve the use or disclosure of protected health information on behalf of, or provides services to, a covered entity.
