UT System Legal Conference

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

In light of the challenges with travel and physical safety, the 2020 UT System Legal Conference was held virtually via Zoom webinar. Sessions occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, November 5th, and the morning of Friday, November 6th.

The conference was developed to offer informative and practical sessions on a wide range of topics relevant to attorneys at UT System academic and healthcare institutions. Speakers shared their expertise and insights on high-profile legal issues, as well as on matters that higher education attorneys face on a day-to-day basis.

The conference opened with brief remarks from Dan Sharphorn, UT System Vice Chancellor and General Counsel. The opening session featured Dr. Amos N. Guiora, the author of a recent book Armies of Enablers: Survivor Stories of Complicity and Betrayal in Sexual Assaults, regarding his research into institutional responses to sexual assaults and the resulting impact of survivors. Sessions also covered Title IX Regulatory Changes; Gift Laws; Exit Strategies and Equity Positions for UT Licensees; Avoiding Bad Actors and Managing their Exits; and Privilege Issues in Internal Investigations.
