UT SELECT and BCBSTX to Provide Identity Protection Services to Its Members

We are pleased to announce that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is providing identity protection services to employees, retirees and their families who are covered under the UT SELECT Medical Plan administered by BCBSTX.

We are making these services available to give you some peace of mind. They are intended to protect health and personal information. Provided by Experian – at no cost to you – these services complement the security and data protection measures BCBSTX already has in place.

The services include:

For adults - 

  • Experian credit report upon sign up
  • Daily one-bureau credit monitoring
  • U.S.-based customer support seven days/week
  • Online and phone enrollment
  • Choice of email or mail delivery
  • $1 million identity theft insurance
  • Fraud resolution team
  • Comprehensive educational resources

For minor dependent children - 

  • Monitors children’s personal information for existence of a credit file
  • Fraud resolution service
  • Experian report upon enrollment
  • $2 million product guarantee

 

How to Enroll During the 2017-2018 Plan Year

To enroll (or re-enroll) in adult coverage (for Employees, Retirees, and Spouses) please call (866) 926-9803 or visit www.experianidworks.com/credit2 and use Engagement Number Q5QT9VKM8 to enroll in Identity Works protection.

To enroll (or re-enroll) children under 18, please call (866) 926-9803 or visit www.experianidworks.com/minorplus2 and use Engagement Number DJSFD23JC to enroll in Minor+ protection. 

PLEASE NOTE: You will be required to provide the appropriate Engagement Number  and the Social Security Number for each enrollee. You will also need your BCBSTX Identification Number to enroll.

The BCBSTX Identification number is an 8 character unique identifier which can be found on your BlueCross BlueShield ID card. See example below. The prefix requested during enrollment is "UTS".

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Am I automatically enrolled in all Experian’s services as an employee or member through UT SELECT?
A: No. You need to proactively sign up with Experian to take advantage of all parts of the identity protection services. Enrollment must be completed annually to continue these services.

Q: What will it cost me?
A: This service is being provided at no cost. Experian will not ask you for payment information or try to sell new services to you.

Q: Who is eligible for these services?
A: These identity protection services are available to you as long as you remain an eligible BCBSTX member through the UT SELECT Medical Plan. The coverage includes eligible adults and covered dependents who have UT SELECT Medical Plan coverage administered by BCBSTX.

Q: Is there a time limit on these services?
A: These services are available to you as long as you remain an eligible UT SELECT participant and your medical plan is administered by BCBSTX. However, you will need to re-enroll annually to maintain this free service.

Q: Doesn’t BCBSTX already provide identity protection services if there’s a data breach?
A: The identity protection services BCBSTX offers for pre- and post-breach are the same. However, the length of time these services are available to you may vary.

Pre-breach services: Once you enroll, the pre-breach services continue as long as you remain an eligible UT SELECT participant and BCBSTX is the medical plan administrator.

Post-breach services: Once you enroll, post-breach identity protection services tend to remain in effect for up to two years.
